If you are looking for lanyard assemblies, read on to find a guide to the products that we have available and general information on lanyards.

What Is The Meaning Of Lanyard & What Are Lanyard Assemblies?

In day-to-day life and layman’s terms, people often use lanyards to specifically refer to a thin cord that may be used as a key chain or ID holder. However, in the world of ropes and rigging, we use the word “lanyard” to refer generically to cords of any kind. This may refer to thin cords like the ones mentioned, but it may also refer to climbing ropes and fliplines, positioning cords (see positioning lanyard), cords that are used a harness, or lifelines.

Lanyard assemblies include both cords (lanyards) and accessories commonly used with them, such as rope grabs, snap hooks, thimbles, abrasion sleeves, and metal eyes.

What Is Flipline?

Flipline is a type of rope that fits into the arborist equipment category. This type of rope is usually a Steel Core Lanyard, meaning that the inner structure of the rope is made from Stainless Steel or a similar metal. The sturdy core of a Flipline makes climbing trees and other steep climbs easier. Unlike Positioning Lanyard, Fliplines and other climbing ropes are engineered for frequent and rigorous movement.

What Kinds Of Lanyard Assemblies Are Available?

Our Lanyard Kits are popular because they combine components of a lanyard system. Kits are available with both cords and additional hooks or carabiners included.

Removable Better Grab Arborist Flipline Kits - This kit includes the revolutionary, fully removable rope grab. The Removable model of the Better Grab rope brake is considered revolutionary because it can be easily taken off of a line without having to cut the tension by taking down a rigging system.

Features Of Removable Better Grab Arborist Flipline Kits:

  • Swivel Eye Included
  • Large Thumb Rest For Precise Control
  • Rope Grabs Can Be Easily Removed From A Rigging System Without Cutting Tension

All In One Flipline Kits - This is another popular assembly because in addition to including a flip line and rope grab, it also comes with a copper carabiner. Just as the name implies, this truly is an all-in-one package.

Features Of The All In One Arborist Flipline Kit:

  • Improved Flex Fatigue In Line
  • Better Visibility With Shrink Tubing
  • Includes Flipline Cord, Rope Brake, And Carabiner

What Is The Definition Of A Vertical Lifeline?

Vertical Lifelines are lanyard lines designed to be linked above the climber. This may be from a ladder or from the top of a building. This system provides additional security for difficult climbs by preventing slipping backward while climbing. Our Vertical Lifelines are designed to resist water absorption. Since they are made of Polyester, they also provide better grip and extra protection against abrasion.

What Is Positioning Lanyard’s Definition?

A positioning Lanyard (sometimes called Lineman’s Rope) is a line that connects a person to an anchoring point. These Lanyards are part of a restraining system rather than a fall arrest system. US Rigging offers general-purpose Positioning Lanyards, as well as kits designed for specific industries like arborists and tower climbers. The E-Z Mover Tower Positioning Lanyard includes a Static Master Rope and a Kong Trimmer rope grab.

What Is A Ring Friction Saver?

A Ring Friction Saver is a piece of gear that decreases the amount of friction applied to a tree. This makes knots and hitches more responsive during climbs and reduces the damage done to a tree when lines are attached to branches.
