What Is Composite Rope?
A composite rope is a line that is made of two or more different types of materials. Some of these combinations may include nylon cores with polyester covers, or in the case of our Rig Master Rope, a Polyester Core and Polypropylene cover. In that particular case, the rope is constructed to take advantage of the strength of Polyester and the increased water resistance of Polypropylene.
What Are The Benefits Of Polypropylene?
Polypropylene (PP) is a strong and sturdy plastic that is particularly well known as a cost-effective material for water rescue ropes. PP rope is heat resistant and stays strong with friction. It is particularly useful since it can float of both saltwater and freshwater and resists chemicals and shrinking.
Benefits Of Using Polypropylene:
- Abrasion Resistant
- Strong, Sturdy Plastic
- Resistant To Mold & Mildew
- Cost-Effective For Water Rescue
- Great For General Purpose Rope
- Floats On Both Saltwater & Freshwater
- Resistant To Chemicals, Shrinking, Heat & Friction
What Are The Benefits Of Using Polyester In Braided Rope?
Polyester is an incredible material that has a similar strength to Nylon but has far less stretch. Polyester resists abrasion and does not lose strength when it is wet, which makes it an excellent choice in composite ropes made for marine applications. It is also extremely lightweight, making it an especially user-friendly material.
Some Benefits Of Using Polyester:
- Abrasion Resistant
- Ideal For Outdoor Uses
- Does Not Lose Strength When Wet
- Similar To Strength To Nylon With Less Stretch
